Medical equipment gets sold through a lot of routes, and not all of them carry the manufacturer's backing. The difference rarely shows up at the point of purchase. It shows up two years later, when something fails.
Authorized supply means the unit comes from the manufacturer's own production, at the current revision, with the software and accessories it is meant to ship with. Parallel-imported equipment is often an older revision, configured for another market.
An authorized distributor can open a warranty claim directly with the manufacturer. Equipment bought through unauthorized channels is often out of warranty from the day it arrives, whatever the invoice says.
Manufacturers train and certify engineers on their own equipment, and supply parts through authorized channels. Both matter when a repair has to hold up to inspection, and when a part needs to arrive quickly rather than eventually.
Device registration — HSA in Singapore, MDA in Malaysia — depends on a clean supply chain. Gaps in that chain become your problem during an audit, not your supplier's.
